How to engage employees in the creation of a communication charter?

Problem Statement

The company wanted to actively involve its employees in creating their communication charter, but faced difficulties in seriously engaging them.

Context

The client, the IT department of a large-scale association, which had already successfully participated in an DNA experience, reached out to us again to design an experience to address their problem. After several unsuccessful attempts to engage their employees around internal communication, the organization turned to FeelGoodFellows to take on this challenge by leveraging the strengths of gamification.
In response to their request, and based on our previous successful collaboration, we took the time to deeply analyze their expectations in order to design a customized experience mechanic (CUSTOMIZED) capable of fostering strong and lasting employee involvement.

Key Figures

  • 52 employees involved
  • 4 weeks of immersive experience
  • Hundreds of photo and video content generated
  • Over 85% engagement rate

Provided Solution

We proposed to the client a customized four-week experience, where each week a distinct challenge was launched to the teams, motivated by a points system with multipliers to stimulate engagement on specific actions throughout the experience.

The four challenges consisted of:

  1. Identifying and presenting situations where communication was not optimal, following themes such as meetings, remote communication, and tense situations.
  2. Formalizing "golden rules" to avoid these dysfunctions.
  3. Illustrating the impact of a lack of adherence to golden rules to raise employees' awareness of their importance.
  4. Creating visual and creative supports to make these rules easily understandable and applicable in daily life.

The employees thus reflected on internal communication and generated hundreds of pieces of content, which served both to finalize the charter and to strengthen internal communication around it.

Results

After four weeks of experience, the 52 employees actively participated in each challenge, producing hundreds of visual and video contents. These creations helped to gather relevant and diverse ideas for the communication charter, facilitating its dissemination within the company and ensuring wide adherence to the defined communication principles.

Key Learnings

  • Customized collaboration: The success of this experience hinges on close collaboration with the company to create an experience perfectly aligned with their specific needs.
  • Speed of execution: Being a critical point for the client, the FeelGoodFellows team had to impose a timeline of less than 3 weeks to design and execute the experience, thus proving their ability to address specific corporate issues with a quick implementation time.
  • Value of past experience: Having already used our solution allowed the client to better understand the concept and facilitate the implementation of this customized experience.
  • Engagement and active participation: The challenges motivated by a points system and multipliers helped maintain the interest and involvement of employees throughout the experience.

The topic for this client was very specific, but the approach to create a "Custom" experience remains the same. And you, what problematic issue would you like to address in an engaging and fun way?
