Quotary

Quotary is a creative and intellectual game where participants demonstrate their ability to complete famous quotes while collaborating in a spirit of friendly competition. The goal of the game is to complete the last part of a quote based on its beginning and the author's name. The game can be played individually or in groups of 2 to 8 players, and it serves as an excellent team-building activity or a fun icebreaker.

To organize a game of Quotary, start by selecting a well-known but incomplete quote, stopping before the final part. The "selector" is designated to choose the quote and read aloud its beginning along with the author's name.

Other players then write their own version of the final part of the quote on a piece of paper, trying to stay true to the author's style or surprising with their creativity. The selector notes the actual ending of the quote.

Once all the submissions are collected, the selector reads them aloud, including the true ending of the quote. Players then vote for the version they think is correct, without voting for their own answer. The selector does not participate in the voting as they know the true ending. Players earn points for each vote their version receives, and the selector gets 3 points if no one guesses the correct ending.

Quotary is an excellent game for stimulating reflection, creativity, and general knowledge while fostering team dynamics. By encouraging participants to think about the meaning of quotes and guess their endings, the game enhances analytical thinking and cooperation within the group. Additionally, Quotary provides a unique opportunity to share convivial moments while exploring profound ideas and famous thoughts. The game's various adaptations, such as using thematic quotes or different literary genres, allow for customization to different contexts, making each session enriching and entertaining.
